One church family, two places to belong

Welcome to St Andrew’s and St Alban’s, two Church of England churches serving Mottingham in south-east London.

Although our churches have different histories and buildings, we share a common purpose: to make Jesus Christ known, help people discover and grow in Christian faith, and share God’s love with the communities around us.

We believe that following Jesus is about much more than Sunday services. It is about growing in our relationship with God, building genuine friendships, caring for our neighbours and putting our faith into practice in everyday life.

Whether you’ve been a Christian for many years, are exploring faith for the first time, or are simply looking for somewhere to belong, we’d love to welcome you.

Our faith and community

At the heart of our churches is the good news of Jesus Christ: that through him we can know God’s love and forgiveness, find hope and new life, and discover what it means to follow him.

Prayer, worship, learning from the Bible and openness to the Holy Spirit are important parts of our life together. We believe God’s love should also be reflected in hospitality, kindness, friendship and practical care for the people around us.

Our two churches serve different parts of Mottingham, and we value the distinctive character of each.

Meet Joel and Bolette

In October 2026, we welcomed Revd Joel Soares as our new Priest in Charge. Joel was licensed on 6 October, having previously served as a curate at St Peter’s Church, Brockley.

Joel is joined by his wife, Bolette, who is a worship leader. Together they have four young children.

They are looking forward to getting to know the people of Mottingham and helping our churches grow as communities where people can encounter Jesus, deepen their faith and build lasting friendships.

A new chapter

St Andrew’s and St Alban’s are entering a new chapter, supported by a growing relationship with St Peter’s Brockley and the wider Table SE family of churches.

Our hope is to see both churches flourish as vibrant Christian communities, where people come to faith, grow as disciples of Jesus and find opportunities to serve others.

Come and meet us

The best way to discover what our churches are like is to come and visit. You don’t need to know anything about church or have all the answers. We’d love to meet you.
